Maxwell Fund.

The Maxwell Fund operated from 1943 to 1949, using money left to the New England Christian Committee for Refugees by Janet Maxwell to care for children evacuated to the United States from England and Scotland. The Fund also granted money to the Boston Provident Association (agent of the British Charitable Society) for salaries of social workers working with the English or Scottish war brides and their children and to defray the educational and medical expenses of the children. Alice Cope, one of the three trustees of the Fund, was also an officer of the Window Shop, a Boston-area oranization that provided assistance to refugees and recent immigrants.
