WHRB (Radio station : Cambridge, Mass.)
WHRB is a Harvard University student-run and independently financed radio broadcasting station that has a lively history. Since 1940, it has provided listeners with current University, local, and world news, intercollegiate sports, student comments by network members, musical entertainment, talk shows, and dramatic performances. Founded as WHCN in 1940 by the Harvard Crimson Network, the staff was originally drawn from the undergraduate newspaper, The Crimson, until it broke with the paper sometime in the 1940's. At that time it changed its call letters to WHRV. In 1949, due to a conflict with an Ann Arbor, Michigan station, the station changed to its present name, WHRB. As of 1966, operating revenues have come solely from advertising.
