Cohen, William W. (William Wolfe), 1874-1940

William Wolfe Cohen (September 6, 1874 – October 12, 1940) was an American businessman and politician. A member of the Democratic Party, he notably served as U.S. Representative from New York's 17th congressional district from 1927 to 1929.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Cohen attended public schools before joining his father in the shoe manufacturing business. In 1903, Cohen began engaging in banking and brokerage. He was a member of the New York Stock Exchange, director of the New York Cotton Exchange, served as vice chairman of the Public Schools Athletic League, and was an honorary deputy chief of the New York City Fire Department. Cohen was elected as a Democrat to the Seventieth Congress (March 4, 1927 – March 3, 1929). He was not a candidate for renomination in 1928.
