Fowler, Charles B., 1931-

Charles Fowler (1931-1995) was a prolific American writer and advocate for arts education. He held editorial positions with Music Educators Journal and Musical America, wrote numerous textbooks for the college and secondary education level, and served as a consultant and writer for numerous organizations including Walt Disney Productions, New York Philharmonic, the Metropolitan Opera, the National Endowment for the Arts, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and National Public Radio. From 1989 to 1993, Fowler was appointed director of National Cultural Resources, Inc. In addition, Fowler was a guest professor at several American universities and an active participant in educational projects and symposia, lecturing on the subject of arts education throughout the United States and abroad.
