Bicentennial Commission of Florida

The Bicentennial Commission of Florida was created in 1970 (Ch. 70-212, Laws) as a part the Dept. of Commerce. The Commission planned and developed Florida's participation in the commemoration of the American Revolution and the Declaration of Independence; identified sites in Florida for Bicentennial observance; and cooperated with the Miami Bicentennial Committee in planning an international exposition. The Commission was under the direction of the American Revolution Bicentennial Association, which provided funds and guidelines for state distribution to local Bicentennial committees. The Commission was dissolved in 1977 (Ch. 77-203, Laws).
