Ronning, Chester, 1894-1984
Diplomat, born in Xiangfan, China. He spent his early years in China and Northern Alberta, received his university education from the University of Alberta and the University of Minnesota, was a teacher in China (1922-1927), was Principal of Camrose Lutheran College (1927-1942), was a leader of an RCAF intelligence unit (1942-1945), and was a diplomat with postings in China, Ottawa, Norway, and India. Besides being a member of the Korea and Laos conferences, he acted as a mediator during the Vietnam War, and strongly advocated China's entry into the UN.
