Snell, Heber C. (Heber Cyrus), 1883-1974
Dr. Heber Cyrus Snell was born on January 16, 1883 in Spanish Fork to Rufus P. and Ellen C. Snell. He married Hedwig E. Stauffer on September 6, 1905 in the Logan, Utah, LDS Temple. Hedwig died on June 8, 1945 in Pocatello, Idaho. Snell later married Phoebe Linford Rees on June 23, 1947. Snell served an LDS mission in Chicago, and attended Brigham Young University, graduating in 1912. He served as principal of the San Luis Academy in Manassa, Colorado, and the Big Horn Academy in Cowley, Wyoming, and as superintendent of schools in Lovell, Wyoming. Dr. Snell graduated from University of Utah with an M.S. and received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago. He taught psychology and education at Snow College and was director of LDS Institute of Religion at Idaho State University. In 1945 he joined the faculty of the Logan LDS Institute of Religion. He was the author of three books: Ancient Israel, Through the years, and Gospel references. Snell died on February 1, 1974 in Logan.
