New, John C. (John Chalfant), 1831-1906
New was an Indianapolis, Ind. lawyer, publisher, banker, and politician. He held a number of offices at the state and national level, including Indiana state legislator, U.S. Treasurer, U.S. Consul General in London, and Indiana Republican state chairman.
