Sievier, Robert William, 1794-1865

Robert William Sievier is primarily noted for his works in sculpture. Initially an engraver, he became a sculptor in 1823. After 1840, Sievier devoted his life to science and became a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1841. Sievier's statue of Dr. Jenner is in the Gloucester Cathedral. He carved one of his few chimney pieces for the dining room of Chatsworth, the principal sea of the dukes of Devonshire located in Derbyshire, England.
