Merchant, banker, and businessman of Society Hill, S.C.; organizer, c. 1893, and president of the People's Bank of Darlington, S.C.; largest landowner in the Pee Dee Region, S.C.; served as Confederate soldier during Civil War; established Carrigan and Silcox, a loan and commission house, Charleston, S.C., 1880; brother of John W. Carrigan, Andrew V. Carrigan, and Samuel K. Carrigan; husband of Catherine Elizabeth Hill; father of Dr. William Andrew Carrigan (1875-1952).
