Baker, George W., 1858-1914.

George W. Baker, miner, lived in Alaska during the 1890s and early 1900s. Prospecting throughout the period at various sites, he followed gold rushes to Klondike, Nome and Iditarod, settling briefly in Candle City in 1902. He also purchased and leased a building which had once been a saloon in Discovery Otter. After several months of illness in 1914, Baker died of stomach cancer in Seattle, Washington, on December 7.
