Charles Turner Thackrah set up the Leeds School of Anatomy in 1826-27 and from this developed the Leeds School of Medicine. It was founded in 1831, at the Public Dispensary in North Street, by six doctors, including Garlick, Hey and Teale (later joined by Thackrah)
From the guide to the Medical lecture notes reputedly made by James Tatham, 1835-1836, (GB 206 Leeds University Library)
