Paulding, William, Jr., 1770-1854

William Paulding Jr., a Representative from New York. He was born in Philipsburgh (now Tarrytown), N.Y., March 7, 1770; he studied law and was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in New York City. He was elected as a Republican to the Twelfth Congress (March 4, 1811-March 3, 1813) and served as a brigadier general of militia during in the War of 1812. Paulding was adjutant general of the State of New York and served as the mayor of New York City 1824-1826. He died in Tarrytown on February 11, 1854.
