Cadle, Dean, 1920-1998
Dean Cadle, bio-bibliographer of well known Kentucky author James Still, was born in Middlesboro, Ky., January 16, 1920. Cadle attended Berea College, Berea, Ky. (1938-1941), received his undergraduate degree from the State University of Iowa in 1947, an MS in Library Science from Stanford University (1948) and an MA from the University of Kentucky in 1957. He has held positions at the Kentucky State Department of Libraries (1957-1959), the University of Kentucky Libraries (1959-1960), and until his retirement in 1987, was Associate Librarian for Technical Services at the University of North Carolina, Asheville. Besides writing and collecting extensively on author James Still, Cadle has had numerous articles and poems published in national and regional journals and is an accomplished photographer as well.
