Wolfenbarger & McCulley (Firm)

Frank O. Wolfenbarger was born in Riley County, Kansas in 1904, graduated from Kansas State Agricultural College in 1926, and worked as an architect in Manhattan throughout much of the 20th century, later gaining a partner, Robert McCulley. The Wolfenbarger & McCulley firm designed numerous buildings throughout Manhattan and Riley County, though also venturing further afield such as in Lawrence and Junction City. These buildings included local schools; on Fort Riley; Riley County public buildings, such as the jail and police building; private businesses and organizations, such as churches, hospitals, and banks; Kansas State University and related buildings such as sororities; private residences; and other buildings. Wolfenbarger also served on the design team for the Eisenhower Presidential Library in Abilene. When he died, Robert McCulley kept the firm going.
