Shackleton family.
Carlton, Chandlee, Shackleton and related Quaker families of England, Ireland, and United States. Abraham Shackleton (1696-1771) founded a school at Ballitore, Co. Kildare, Ireland in 1726. His son Richard Shackleton (1726-1792) later took charge of the school and married Elizabeth Carleton (1726-1804). Their daughter Mary (1758-1826) married Wm. Leadbeater. Thomas Carleton (1699-1792) of Kennett, (Chester County) Pa. was the son of Mark and Susanna (Watson) Carleton.
