Spieth, Robert, 1914-

Robert "Bob" Spieth was born on 26 April 1914 in Bronx Borough, New York, New York. Spieth was drafted 16 April 1941 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and was ordered to report to Camp Upton, Long Island, New York for induction. Spieth was assigned to the 8th Squadron, 3rd Bomber Group, Army Air Forces in Port Moresby, New Guinea as a photograph interpreter. During World War II, his assignment as a photograph interpreter led to more general intelligence duties culminating with duties with the Defense Intelligence Agency. Spieth was separated at the end of World War II and subsequently appointed a captain in the Army Air Forces, 5 July 1947. Spieth retired as colonel in April 1966 and took a position with the Girl Scouts of America until 1978. Post retirement travels included Europe and Egypt.
