Kuss, P. N.
P.N. Kuss ran his own painting business in Oakland and San Francisco. P.N. Kuss was also an executive board member of the Kaweah Colony. The Kaweah Colony was started in 1885 as an experiment in Christian Socialism. 55 members made land claims near the Kaweah River in 1885. A road and sawmill were built, with several townships and a school, but problems with the land claims and internal conflict ended the colony in 1892.
