Moir, D. M. (David Macbeth), 1798-1851
Author and physician David MacBeth Moir was born and raised in Musselburgh, Scotland, and studied to be a doctor at the University of Edinburgh. He returned to Mussleburgh to practice medicine, and began writing both poetry and prose for various periodicals, notably Blackwood's Magazine. He was known as Delta, as he often signed his verse with that Greek letter. He also wrote a history of medicine, and an overview of contemporary poetry.
