Murphy, Donald R.
Agriculturalist. Donald R. Murphy was born in Des Moines, Iowa and attended Oregon State College. He joined Wallace's Farmer in 1919 and was editor from 1933-1955. He also served as a contributing editor until his retirement in 1968. Murphy was a pioneer in farm opinion polls, establishing them in the Wallace's Farmer in 1937. He also published What Farmers Read and Like, and for almost a half century he was an associate, close friend, and confidant of Henry A. Wallace.
