Heath, Henry, fl. 1862.

From a comparison with Gustavus Hutchison's Narrative of the Formation and Services of the Eleventh Massachusetts Volunteers and Henry Blake's Three Years in the Army of the Potomac, the author does not appear to be the author of either of these two works. Photographs of officers of the regiment supplied by the Army Military History Institute in Carlisle, Pa., include Lt. Henry Heath who bears an almost exact resemblance to the man in the photograph included with the collection. Heath was with Company I, 11th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment. He enlisted as a 1st Sergeant and was a resident of Haverill, age 25, occupation mason. He enlisted and mustered in on June 13, 1861 and was commissioned 2nd lieutenant on May 16, 1862 and 1st lieutenant on May 4, 1863. He was dismissed to date February 15, 1864, by Special Order No. 107, as 1st Lieutenant of Company C.
