Physician, of Society Hill (Darlington County, S.C.); graduate of Yale, Class of 1837; served as American Consul to Venice, 1845-1849; son of Alexander and Jane McKearly Sparks; husband of Alicia Middleton; died of cholera, 1849, in Venice, Italy.
