Franklin Clark Fry served as the second president of the United Lutheran Church in America. Elected in 1944, he served as President through the merger to form the Lutheran Church in America in 1962. Fry was an active national and world-wide ecumenical leader, serving as Lutheran World Federation Treasurer, Vice-President, President; organizer of National Council of Church of Christ in the U.S.A.; President of Lutheran World Relief; chairman of the Central and Executive Committees of the World Council of Churches. Fry served as President of the Lutheran Church in America from the merger in 1962 through his death in 1968.
