Ricks, Peirson, 1908-1950

Pierson Ricks (1908-1950) was an author, advertising agent, and native of Winston-Salem, N.C. Ricks was the oldest of the four children of David Absalom Ricks and Jessie Pierson Whitaker Ricks. He graduated from R. J. Reynolds High School, Winston-Salem, N.C., attended the University of North Carolina, worked at Hanes Knitting Company and at advertising agencies in Philadelphia, Pa., New York, N.Y., and Winston-Salem. He also wrote for the Winston-Salem Journal and worked for the Office of Strategic Services in Washington, D.C., during World War II. As an author, Ricks wrote about 50 stories and novelettes, of which 20 were published. A novel, The Hunter's Horn, was published by Scribners' in 1947.
