Pittman, Melinda
Melinda E. Pittman received her education at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and Tulane University, before launching an active career in Portland, Oregon. Ms. Pittman wrote, directed, produced, and performed in numerous music comedy revues with The Fallen Angel Choir (1984-1996), Summer Angels Some Are Not (1992-1997), Angels the Next Generation, and Melinda and The Angels, and also worked during this time as a solo actor in and director of comedic and dramatic productions, and as an arts administrator.
Her work with these groups satirized current political events, and many of their performances supported political and charitable causes, including the 1994 gubernatorial campaign of John Kitzhaber, the Race for the Cure, and local schools. Ms. Pittman received the Oregon Book Awards Angus Bowmer Prize for Best Drama for "Wonderbroads," as well as other local awards for directing and producing.
