Muczynski, Robert
Robert Muczynski (b. Mar. 19, 1929, Chicago) received formal musical training at DePaul University in Chicago, where he studied piano with Walter Knupfer and composition with Alexander Tcherepnin. His works have been performed in the major cities of the United States, Europe, Australia and Asia.
His Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Chamber Orchestra was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in Music in 1982, while his Second Piano Sonata was unanimously voted Best Contemporary Composition at the Fifth International Piano Competition in Sydney, Australia, in 1992.
