Ash, John H., d. 1918.
John H. Ash, Confederate Civil War soldier and clergyman, was born in 1843, in Savannah, Georgia, and died on 3 June 1918, in Savannah, Georgia. During the Civil War, he served in Company B, 5th Regiment Georgia Cavalry (Georgia Hussars). He was made a lieutenant in ca. 1864 and served in the Savannah, Georgia, area; Florida (1864); north Georgia (during the Atlanta Campaign); and in South Carolina. In 1916, he made a speech at the presentation of General Gordon's portrait to Troop A, Georgia Hussars, Savannah.
