North American Farm Alliance

The North American Farm Alliance (NAFA) was formed on April 9, 1983, in Des Moines, Iowa, at a farm coalition meeting organized by the US Farmers Association. Over fifty farm, labor and community organizations from the United States and Canada were part of the coalition. The group's goals were to gain parity prices for farm products, achieve fair trade and full employment for farmers, investigate the farm credit system, and end the forced farm liquidations of the farm crisis. The coalition also published a monthly collection of articles which addressed farm policy concerns to assist and inform coalition members, compiled from daily and weekly newspapers and over 700 business and trade periodicals from around the world.
