Beam, Jacob D. (Jacob Dyneley), 1908-1993.

Beam's diplomatic career was extensive: monitor of the League of Nations and vice-consul in Geneva (1931-1934), third secretary in Berlin (1934-1940), third secretary in London (1941-1945), counselor and political advisor in Germany (1945-1947), Indonesia (1949-1951), and Yugoslavia (1951-1952), and ambassador to Poland (1957-1961), Czechoslovakia (1966-1969), and the Soviet Union (1969-1973).
