Rowland, Robert S., 1898-1995

Robert S. Rowland was born in St. Johnsville, New York, on February 11, 1898, and graduated from St. Johnsville High School. As a young man, he worked for Paul C. Buhl and the Buhl Organ Company in Utica, New York, and started on his own business in 1918. Over an active career of 60 years, he built 64 new organs and regularly serviced 23 others. Following his retirement in 1978 and the death of his wife, Mildred Easton, in 1989, he moved to State College, Pennsylvania, to be near his daughter, Roberta Rowland-Raybold. He died in State College on February 4, 1995.
