Reichardt, William J., 1930-

Business leader; Iowa legislator (1964-1970). Born 1930 in Iowa City, the son of Herb Reichardt, owner of Reiche's Cafe from 1887-1947. Played on the high school All-State football team in 1946 and 1947; continued playing, receiving All-American honors while at the University of Iowa where he earned a B.S. in Economics in 1952. Spent one season with the Green Bay packers, then joined the Air Force, where he served as First Lieutenant for two years during the Korean War. He is president of Reichardt's Inc., a chain of men's clothing stores, and is active in community affairs. In 1964 he was elected to the Iowa Legislature where he served Polk County for six years.
