Wisconsin. Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection
With predecessors dating to 1915, the Dept. of Agriculture (WIHV85-A353) was renamed the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection by Chapter 29, Laws of 1977.
The Department provides marketing assistance to many segments of agriculture through grading programs and product promotion; protects farm animals and crops through programs for the control and eradication of pests and diseases; and exercises its regulatory responsibilities through licensing, inspection, quarantine, laboratory analysis, and consumer protection. Department policies are established by the Board of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (WIHV85-A483).
