Stirling, Michael Grote, 1915-2002.

Rear Admiral Michael Grote Stirling was born in Kelowna, B.C. in 1915. He joined the R.C.N. as a cadet in 1933, and later trained in the Royal Navy. He specialized in Signals at H.M. Signal School, Portsmouth in 1941. He was appointed to the Canadian Joint Staff in Washington in 1947. He became Chief of Naval Personnel in 1962 and Flag Officer Pacific Coast in 1964. He resigned from the Navy in 1966. He served as Director of the University of Victoria Foundation 1967-68 and as Agent General for British Columbia in the United Kingdom and Europe 1968-75.
