H. G. (Hutchins Gordon) Burton (1782-1836) served in the North Carolina General Assembly, 1810-1816; was elected to the state House of Commons, 1817; served in the United States House of Representatives, 1819-1824; and was Governor of North Carolina, 1824-1827.
