Cutler, Lloyd N. 1917-2005
Lloyd Norton Cutler was born on November 10, 1917 in New York, New York. He first served the Carter administration as the President's Special Representative for maritime resource and boundary negotiations with Canada from 1977 to 1979. During June 1979, he became Counsel to the President on the ratification of the SALT II treaty. On August 17, 1979 the President announced Cutler's appointment as Counsel to the President. Cutler served in that position from October 1, 1979 through November 30, 1980. He continued to serve as an unpaid consultant on pending matters, most notably the negotiations for the release of American hostages in Iran, until the end of the Carter administration.
