Henry, Alexander, 1739-1824

Born in New Jersey, 1739; went to Mackinac, 1760-1776 engaged in trade of Great Lakes and far Northwest; 1776, went to Montreal, established residence, extablished one of leading citizens; 1809, published account of activities during years spent in western fur trade, which is regarded as a standard, and in certain respects unique, authority on period with which it deals; died in Montreal, Canada, April ,1824.
