Collins, W. R. (William Robert), 1913-1991
William Robert Collins (b. Feb. 5, 1913, Washington, D.C.), Major General in the U.S. Marine Corps, a college graduate who began his military career in 1935, was the commanding officer, 5th Tank Battalion in 1944. In the 1960s he served as commanding general, 3rd Marine Division, and assistant chief of staff for operations, Marine Corps Headquarters.
