Board of Delegates of American Israelites
Organized in 1859 with Jews from New York, N.Y., and twelve other cities to represent American Jews to the government in Washington, D.C., and defend Jewish rights; 1878 board gave up its separate existence to amalgamate with the Union of American Hebrew Congregations; 1925 the board, as part of the Union of American Hebrew Congregations was finally dissolved.
