Our Savior Lutheran Church (Pinehurst, Idaho)

The consultation with the ALC Board of Missions, Trinity Lutheran in Kellogg offered to mother a new Congregation in Pinehurst. Members of Trinity encouraged those living in the Pinehurst area to become a nucleus of the new congregation. They contributed volunteer labor for the construction of a chapel and parsonage. The first full-time pastor was Herbert W. Siefkes and first services were held in Kingston High School on August 11, 1957. One hundred twenty members transferred from the Kellogg congregation.

Construction of the church and parsonage continued for the next two years, and the church was dedicated on October 12, 1958. By 1962 the congregation became self-supporting, and on October 31, 1982 all indebtedness on the church was removed. Further construction and improvements to the buildings have continued, and a new organ was purchased in 1979. Major mine and smelter closures combined with a failing timber industry caused an exodus of families from the community so that by 1985 the membership had decreased to 340 baptized members.
