Williston, Samuel Wendell, 1851-1918
Williston received his B.S. in 1872 and his M.A. in 1875, both from the Kansas Agricultural College. He then went to Yale to receive his M.D. in 1880 and his Ph.D. in 1885. He joined the faculty of KU in 1890 as a Professor of Geology and Paleontology. In 1899 he was named Dean of the School of Medicine. He left the University in 1902 to take a position as Professor of Paleontology at the University of Chicago. He died in 1918.
