Operating within the Office of Student Services, the Office of Special Programs was renamed the Special Programs and Academic Skills Center in 1986, and Academic Support Services in 1990. It provides assistance to undergraduate students who require academic support services and special advisement to help them succeed in the academic environment. Financial, communication, cultural, and physical difficulties are addressed by various programs, services, workshops, and tutoring coordinated by the office.
