Brown, John M. (JohnMarion), 1920-1998.
John Marion Brown was born in Dillard, Georgia on May 21, 1920. He graduated from Emory University in 1941, and from the University of Georgia School of Medicine in 1944. After teaching Anesthesiology at the University of Georgia School of Medicine, he joined the faculty of the Medical College of South Carolina in 1949 as an Associate Professor of Surgery. He was Charleston's first anesthesiologist. He left the college in 1958 to accept a position at Emory University as Chief of Anesthesia Services, where he remained until his retirement in 1975. Dr. Brown was a member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Georgia State Society of Anesthesiologists, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Brown died in 1998.
