Garland, Stephen J.
A.B., Dartmouth College, 1963; Ph.D. in mathematical logic, University of California at Berkeley, 1967. Taught mathematics at Dartmouth, 1967-1987; assistant director of software development at Dartmouth's Kiewit Computation Center. Worked with the National Science Foundation on a project to integrate computers in the undergraduate curriculum; chaired the College Board committee that developed the Advanced Placement Program in Computer Science. Served as vice-chair of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) X3J2 Basic Standards Committee. At the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory since 1985.
