Dammin, Gustave J. (Gustave John), 1911-

Gustave John Dammin, 1911-1991, BA, 1930, MD, 1934, Cornell University, Elise T. Friedman Professor of Pathology, Emeritus, at Harvard Medical School and former pathologist-in-chief at the Peter Bent Brigham Hospital from 1952 to 1974, was part of the Harvard Medical School-Peter Bent Brigham Hospital team that performed the world's first successful kidney transplant in 1954. In the 1970s, Dammin's research focused on human babesiosis and Lyme disease, and he participated in the identification, description, and public education of tick-borne infections.
