The study of bioengineering at the University of Utah began in the academic year 1964-1965 with the establishment of the Dept. of Biophysics and Bioengineering the College of Engineering. In 1973, this department was split into the Dept. of Medical Biophysics and Computing in the College of Medicine and the Dept. of Bioengineering in the College of Engineering.
