The Office of the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aids existed from 1952 to 1971, and included the Freshman Scholarship Office, the Admission Office, and the Financial Aid Center. The Freshman Scholarship Office was responsible for all scholarship awarded to new Freshmen, for the National Scholarship program in both Freshman and later years, and for the control of scholarship funds. The following individuals served as Director of Freshman Scholarships: J.T. Shaplin (1952-1955); F.L. Glimp (1956-1960); and H.P. Briggs (1961- ).
