Cameron, Clyde, 1913-2008
Mr Cameron has had a long and influential involvement in the labour movement and Australian Labor Party politics through the Australian Workers Union, the South Australian Branch of the ALP, as a Federal Labor parliamentarian and Minister, and as a writer and commentator.Offices held by Mr Cameron in the AWU were Organiser (1938 to 1941), Secretary of the SA Branch (1941-49), Federal Vice President (1942-50), and President of the SA Branch (1956).Mr Cameron was President of the SA Branch of the ALP (1946-48, 1958-59, and 1963-64), its representative on the Federal Executive of the ALP (1970-72), and a SA delegate to ALP Federal Conferences (1948-77).
