Damman, James J.
James J. Damman, a native of Grosse Point Park, Michigan, was born on January 16, 1933. He graduated from Saint Ambrose High School in Detroit (1950) and earned a Bachelor of Sciences degree from the University of Detroit (1964). Prior to his political career, Damman worked for the family hardware business, the A.L. Damman Company. He married Margaret Ann Schulte of Mt. Clemens, Michigan in 1956. They have six children. A republican, Damman served as a commissioner for the city of Troy (1969) and was elected a state representative for the Sixty-third District, Oakland County (1970). In 1974, he became William Milliken's Lieutenant Governor. He ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate in 1977.
