Pilcher, Elijah H. (Elijah Holmes), 1810-1887
Born in Athens Co., Oh., June 2, 1820; studied in Athens University; was ordained a Methodist minister, 1829; resided in Mich., preaching at, Ann Arbor, Jackson, Kalamazoo, etc.; was ten years secretary of the Conference & co. 25 years presiding elder; was one of the founders of Albion College; received D.D. & other degrees; was admitted to the bar, 1846; Regent of Mich. Univ. 1846-52; author of "protestantism in Michigan"; toured Europe, 1868-69; died in Brooklyn N.Y., Apr. 7, 1889. (Mich. Biogr.) (Blue index cards)
