Born January 11, 1907, Philadelphia, PA. Graduated, Wellesley College, 1928. M.S.W., Smith College School for Social Work, 1931. District superintendent, Family Society of Philadelphia, 1931-33. District secretary, Institute of Family Service (Associated Charities), Cleveland, 1933. Published Social Casework in Practice: Six Case Studies, 1939. Taught casework, Western Reserve University, 1934, then at New York School of Social Work (later called Columbia University School of Social Work). for 20 years while maintaining a small clinical practice and served as Director of Publications for the Family Service Association of America, 1937-40. She taught at Smith College School for Social Work, 1955-1962, and published Casework: A Psychosocial Therapy, 1964. She retired in 1972 and moved with her companion, Rosemary Reynolds, to Crosslands, Kennett Square, PA. Died July 2, 1987.
